hidden.
so close,
when your eyes open
you are shocked out of your vocabulary.
unexpected.
so alien,
when you touch it
you want to scream.
excruciating.
so elevated,
when you reach it
you no longer exist.
given
and taken
and cultivated
by those
whose very existence
is metaphorized
into fable.
and in spite of all we do,
in spite of how we posture,
in spite of our meager efforts
to be worthy,
ultimately,
all we can do is pray
for grace.
