what if you were two people? or three?
a multitude of personalities,
attributes, eyes and ears and
things too strange to have names-
points of view
all around you.i pondered.
i asked,
who am i then? if i am two,
or a million,
yet despite all these i see through
only one set of eyes,
hear only through my own ears,
and each thought continues
one at a time?perhaps you are none of these,
he answered
then fell silent.i cursed him for confusion
and bared my teeth.
i swore and threatened,
but heard nothing but quiet,
subdued laughter.this is what i get
for relying on a trickster
to enlighten me.
